Explore the passionate heart and soul of the thirteenth-century Sufi mystic Jelaluddin Rumi. Because of its accessibility and appeal, Rumi’s poetry has found its way into yoga classes the world over, read as inspiration at the start of class to enter into the sacred space of asana practice, or at the end of class to remind students that life off the mat is no less sacred.

With translator and poet Coleman Barks and scholar Andrew Harvey, we will explore the contemporary significance of Rumi’s teachings, his relationship with his dear friend Shams, the universal appeal of his poems, and his ability to shed light on the extraordinariness of “ordinary” life. Zuleikha and David Darling will take us into movement and music to create our own bridge between the mystical and everyday life. In a field of spiritual inquiry and sacred celebration, we will come together for divine inspiration, creative expression, and simply being human.

Note Participants are invited to bring musical instruments to play in David Darling’s workshop on Saturday morning; piano and percussion instruments will be provided.
