Jose Calarco
Jose Calarco, song man, artistic director, and ceremonial leader, has had a long and wide-ranging association with the arts in Australia and throughout the world for the last 25 years, including experience as producer and administrator of large-scale events, artistic director in the fields of dance, film, theater, and music, and as a musician and performer. Jose’s strong management skills have seen his group, Descendance Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre, grow into one of Australia’s leading international cultural exports. Jose brings to the morning ceremonies his passion, playfulness, and heartfelt respect for the ceremonial traditions of the First Peoples.
