Alex Auder, a native New Yorker who grew up in the Chelsea Hotel—where her mother hosted kirtan in their apartment—has been teaching yoga for more than 15 years. She began teaching at the original Jivamukti Yoga Center, ran her own studio in Rhinebeck, New York, and then returned to New York City, where she teaches out of her West Village space and at Kula Yoga Project. Her teaching is known for a graceful integration of clear alignment cues, intelligent sequencing, practical philosophy, generous hands-on assists, a sprinkle of irreverent jokes, and good music. www.westvillageyoga.com
