academic credit option

Kripalu’s Institute for Integrated Leadership has established a partnership with Lesley University, offering students up to 12 undergraduate credits for Semester Intensive courses. Semester Intensive courses meet college-level academic criteria and learning objectives. Course syllabi are evaluated by Lesley faculty with expertise in the area of study, and reviewed and approved by the Provost. In accordance with Lesley’s requirements, the primary academic instructors for all courses have a master’s degree or doctorate in a field of study related to the coursework.

Applying to receive credit for coursework from Lesley University is straightforward, requiring a registration form available at the Semester Intensive orientation and a payment to Lesley University by check or credit card. The cost of credit is $375 per 3-credit course, plus a $30 registration fee. Semester Intensive staff will help facilitate this process

Similar to any credit-transfer process, the transfer of credit from Lesley University to another university or college is up to the discretion of your undergraduate host institution. To explore whether credits are transferable, you should meet with your academic advisor, dean, study abroad office, or relevant faculty to discuss the Semester Intensive coursework and determine whether credits could apply to your academic program. You may also need to consult with the registrar or bursar at your school regarding the details of credit transfer and with the financial aid office to determine if there are any implications of the Semester Intensive program on your financial aid package. Discussion points for conversation with your school representatives may include

Because some students are in the process of transferring, applying to schools, or changing their degrees, we recognize that it may not be possible to obtain credit-transfer approval prior to the start of the Semester Intensive. In this case, some students opt to register for the available credits with the intention of potentially using these credits in their degree programs in the future. Also, keep in mind that it is not possible to obtain credit through Lesley retroactively; that is, it is not possible to apply for and receive credit for Semester Intensive coursework after your participation in the program.

Please be aware that the process for obtaining academic credit varies widely across academic institutions. It is your responsibility as a student to arrange all aspects of transferring credit with your school.

All Semester Intensive students are required to complete all coursework, regardless of whether they choose to take courses for academic credit.
