For Ashtanga students of all levels.

Enjoy this rare opportunity to learn directly from an Indian master dedicated to teaching the ancient tradition of Ashtanga Yoga for total mind-body-spirit unification with Self and God. Manju Jois and his father, K. Pattabhi Jois, brought Ashtanga Yoga to the United States in 1975 and have traveled worldwide teaching the undiluted tradition as it was taught to Pattabhi Jois by his teacher, the legendary T. Krishnamacharya.

A rigorous, physically demanding vinyasa practice done in a heated room, Ashtanga Yoga is a form of hatha yoga that uses a powerful sequence of postures combined with breath to create internal heat that opens the muscles and purifies the body. Manju will introduce the original Sanskrit counting method, helping students learn the correct breath sequence for the Primary Series. Each practice session includes a combination of meditation, chanting, pranayama, and asana. Together we will learn and repeat the Shanti Mantras, or Vedic Peace Chants—a very powerful experience when done with others—to spread the benefits of practice beyond the self.

Manju offers truly authentic guidance for all who wish to follow Ashtanga’s life-enriching path. His teaching is spiritual, intensive, inspiring, and humorous, and he is renowned for assisting students to go deeper into poses.

Note Refrain from eating for at least two hours prior to the workshop sessions and stay well-hydrated. Wear loose comfortable clothes, and bring a yoga mat and a towel.
