The native peoples of the Arctic Circle use the word isumatug to refer to their storytellers. Isumatugs, however, are more than just storytellers. They are the ones who create the atmosphere in which wisdom reveals itself. The most important stories are, of course, those that instruct us on the true meaning of life. These stories “stalk” us, looking for just the right storyteller to present them in a way we can hear.
Asanas are “yoga stories” that take us to a place of creative universal energy (spanda) where we can at last receive the knowledge of the ancient sages and ancestors. This weekend, Kofi Busia shares important stories, drawing on the innate wisdom of asanas and sequences. These postures are designed to speak to us so that our own wisdom is awakened, and the resulting mental and physical awareness transforms us. Kofi’s master classes blend the deeper teachings of yoga with a powerful Iyengar practice, allowing us to revolutionize our relationship to body and asana as their unique stories are revealed.
