Program Details

For women at all levels of yoga experience.

Should a woman’s yoga practice be different than a man’s? How might she modify her practice to be in accord with the changes her body undergoes throughout her life? A woman’s body is marked by transitions: puberty, the fertile years, menopause, and post-menopause, the "wisdom phase." This workshop lays the foundation for turning inward at key times in the life cycle, to attune to your body’s needs and nourish your spirit.

This program covers

  • Yogic and nutritional support for all phases of a woman’s life
  • Honoring the moon cycle
  • Preparing the ground to support fertility
  • Finding calm during perimenopause
  • Exploring inner space during menopause.

Surya Little and Linda Spackman examine optimal ways that yoga practice can support the body’s natural rhythms through asana sequences that facilitate ease and increase energy (shakti) during each change in your life cycle.

Recommended reading Linda Sparrow and Patricia Walden, The Women’s Book of Yoga and Health (Shambhala); Paul Pitchford, Healing with Whole Food (North Atlantic).
