At the heart of the integration of yoga and Ayurveda is the understanding of how prana (life force), agni (internal fire), and ojas (vigor; immunity) support each other for health and healing. Developing an intuitive understanding of which yoga postures and practices encourage the circulation of prana, balance agni, and support the cultivation of ojas is the cornerstone of effective Ayurvedic yoga teaching. Through daily yoga practice for the doshas (consititutions), informative lectures, and extensive partner work, this module explores the dynamics and sequencing of asana, pranayama, and meditation practices for balancing the elements, doshas, and gunas (qualities). Special emphasis is placed on creating seasonal flows, and adapting yoga for both constitutional and current doshic imbalances.
Prerequisites Any 200-hour Yoga Alliance–certified yoga teacher training, Foundations of Ayurveda, the Ayurveda Home-Study Course for Yoga Teachers (purchased through the Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda), or equivalent Ayurveda study (Dean approval required).
