Petri Berndtson

Petri Berndtson is a philosopher whose research is focused on the phenomenon of breathing as a philosophical question and fundamental mystery of human existence. He approaches breathing from the perspective of phenomenological philosophy which emphasizes our lived experience as the starting point of all investigation. This means that his philosophical thinking about breathing is based on the lived experience of breathing. In Petri’s vision, human existence should be rethought from the perspective of respiration as the fundamental experience of our being-in-the-world. He has written articles about breathing in connection to space, body, creativity, dreams, sleep, communality, environment, religion, and spirituality. He taught philosophy for many years in Lahti University of Applied Sciences in Lahti, Finland, and has lectured throughout the world.
