Becky Thompson

Becky Thompson, PhD, RYT 500, is an award-winning poet, activist, scholar, yoga teacher, and author of Survivors on the Yoga Mat: Stories for Healing from Trauma. She is also the author of Mothering Without a Compass: White Mother’s Love, Black Son’s Courage, Zero is the Whole I Fall Into at Night, and other books. Becky is professor and chair of the sociology department at Simmons College and has taught at Duke University, Wesleyan University, and elsewhere. In addition to giving lectures and workshops based on Survivors on the Yoga Mat, she also teaches yoga at the Dorchester YMCA in Boston and at the Women’s International Partnership for Peace and Justice in Thailand.
