Sonia Sumar

Sonia “Sivakami” Sumar is a certified yoga teacher who has studied with Swami Nadabramananda, Indra Devi, and Swami Satchidananda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and has taught at the elementary school level. Sonia has conducted workshops and addressed special education programs and symposia throughout the world and is the founder of the Integral Yoga Center of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In 2001, she opened the national headquarters for Yoga for the Special Child at the Satchidananda Yoga Center in Evanston, Illinois. Author of the book Yoga for the Special Child, which has been translated into six languages, Sonia continues to teach children, adults, and yoga teachers.
