Billie Best

Billie Best is a writer, teacher, activist, and performance artist advocating a more liberated, open-minded, and inspired approach to death and dying. She was launched into this work when her husband said he wanted to put as much thought into planning his death as they put into planning their wedding. Her book, Dying Beautifully, is a guide to doing just that, featuring fine art photographs of her husband before and after his death. Her performance art piece, “The Widow Wears Red Pajamas,” is a mix of provocative storytelling, photographs, and poetry that shatters taboos, and illuminates a fearless death. www.dyingbeautifully.org.
