Barbara Bash

Barbara Bash is a calligrapher and illustrator who has been exploring the dialogue between Buddhist principles and artistic process for many years. While codirecting the Book Arts program at Naropa University, she collaborated with storytellers, musicians, dancers, and poets in performance. Her study of dharma art with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Chinese pictograms with Ed Young deepened her interest in mixing Eastern principles and Western art forms. She now lives in the Hudson Valley of New York, writing and illustrating books on natural history and doing expressive calligraphic performance art. Her latest book is True Nature: An Illustrated Journal of Four Seasons in Solitude. www.barbarabash.com
