Integrative Yoga Therapy

Bringing the ancient insights of yoga into mainstream wellness programs.

Yoga therapists merge ancient yoga practices with evidence-based protocols to address many physical and mental health conditions ailing our modern world. As a yoga therapist, you will be trained to develop classes and individualized instruction that utilize yoga’s most powerful tools—asana, pranayama, mudra, yoga nidra, mantra, and meditation—to treat a myriad of issues including

  • Musculoskeletal conditions such as back and neck pain, arthritis, and osteoporosis
  • Stress, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders
  • Autoimmune diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and other illnesses.

More specifically focused than a general yoga class, yoga therapy sessions address many common diseases, injuries, and conditions, and are tailored to the unique needs of an individual or a small group. Yoga therapy complements allopathic approaches to healing, helping to bring greater physical and emotional relief to clients.

As proven vehicles for wellness, healing, and transformation, yoga and yoga therapy have been successfully incorporated into settings such as hospitals, schools, universities, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Yoga therapists are on the front lines, advocating for yoga’s healing capacity, while delivering impressive outcomes.

For more than 20 years, the Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy’s (KSIYT) curriculum has inspired students to be these agents of change. Certified graduates bring holistic wellness to communities through private practices and through neighborhood institutions. Whether in group settings or in one-on-one sessions, yoga therapists know how to custom design a suite of effective therapeutic yoga practices to address special populations wrestling with specific conditions. KSIYT provides students with the necessary skills to bring yoga therapy into mainstream healthcare, treatment, and wellness approaches in ways that are safe, accessible, and effective.

KSIYT’s 800-Hour Professional Yoga Therapist Program, available in a hybrid format of online and onsite courses, provides a best-in-class experiential training that lets you build skills and clinical practice as you make your way through the curriculum. Each of the training’s nine modules offer a rich assortment of tools and techniques used to assess client needs and goals to facilitate balance at the physical, energetic, psychoemotional, intuitive, and spiritual levels.

Students in the 800-Hour certification program then advance to the final six modules:

Refunds for On Campus and Online Trainings*
Refunds (less a $50 processing fee) will be given according to the following schedule: for cancelations up to the start of the program, 100 percent of monies paid will be refunded. From program start and up to completion of 25 percent of the program, 75 percent of tuition will be credited to your Kripalu account. Up to completion of 50 percent of the program, 50 percent of program tuition will be credited. Up to completion of 75 percent of the program, 25 percent of the program tuition will be credited. A credit for any unused days related to on campus accommodations (or commuter fee) and meals will also be given. All credits on account will be valid for 1 year from date of issue. No other refunds or credits are available. Kripalu’s standard cancellation policy applies to all other charges such as Healing Arts booking. Please note: cancellation of program involvement also includes dismissal of a student by Kripalu administration due to violations of student agreements and/or guest center policy. For cancelations due to Covid-19, please click here.

Notes on Terms
For programs offered with multiple on campus and/or online sessions with nonprogram days in between course days, credits on account are based on full program length—meaning total number of days in which the program holds sessions associated with the posted tuition. (E.g. a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher training offered in two 12-day on campus sessions will have one tuition that covers 24 days, and early departure after the first 12-day session would result in a 50% tuition credit plus an additional credit for any unused accommodations/commuter fee and meal charges for program days remaining.)

For other certifications with multiple modules, program cost is determined based on one module at a time. Program start date refers to the start of each module.
