KOL Tell us about a turning point in your life.
Sylvia I participated in a meditation retreat in 1977 and was so moved by the possibility of a contented mind not dependent on outside circumstances that I became a practitioner and subsequently a teacher.
KOL What do you love about teaching?
Sylvia I have been a teacher of something all of my adult life because I am most thrilled by sharing what seems valuable to me with others. And teaching others is my best way of deepending my own understanding.
KOL What are you passionate about right now?
Sylvia Given the enormity of the problems facing the world at this time, I am most passionate about spreading the news that human beings, when they pay attention, are fundamentally kind, and that spreading peace by teaching its possibility seems the only hope for saving the world.
KOL What do you do in your downtime?
Sylvia I keep up my relationships with friends far and near whose sustaining presence in my life validates my belief that love is the source of happiness.
